Downtown Parking Plan implemented
Frankfort Main Street will be working diligently over the next three weeks to meet with each downtown Merchant
and business owner to discuss and distribute the new parking plan.
Mayor Don Stock and the City Street Department have worked very hard over the last few months to clean and repair
four downtown City owned parking lots. The City has agreed to allow merchants and property owners an opportunity
to have designated off-street parking.
The four lots have been posted with signs that indicate that you are not authorized to park in this lot if you do
not have a sticker giving you authorization to be there.
The goal is to have all downtown merchants, employees, and tenants parking in designated lots no later than March
1, 2006.

Snow Removal news from Ron Niemesh
The City of Frankfort will be trying something different around the square the next snowstorm. During the day,
the Street Dept. will work to keep the streets open.
Early the next morning, they will be plowing the snow in the parking lanes along the streets and the streets. They
will be plowing away from the curbs into the center of the street. Then the snow will be moved to the west side
of the courthouse in the parking spots along Main St. As soon as possible and possibly with the help of the
Utility Departments' vehicles and people, this snow will be hauled away from the downtown area.
At times, certain streets may have the access blocked for the general public and parking for the safety of the
people working on the snow.
Also, the removal of vehicles along the square during the early morning hours would help us greatly in removing
the snow in a more timely and safer manner.
Hopefully, this will prevent the large build up of snow at the edge of the curb and the street. The downtown
property owners will not have to remove the snow from the sidewalks that the plows normally put there.
Remember, it is the responsibility of the property owners to remove the snow from the sidewalks in front of
their buildings, just as if the buildings were residences. Snow can be put into the street before we start
plowing and we will remove it as we are plowing the streets.
Keep in mind that Jackson St. is really a state highway and we will do the best to work with INDOT on the
snow removal along this road.
